Build with 2 more herb options
Following the conclusion of the play testing period for the game jam, we received mixed feedback regarding the game's difficulty/complexity. Some said that it was too difficult and I believe that has more to do with our tutorial being just a tall wall of text. Most players would have forgotten the exact procedure as soon as the window is closed (and some don't even read the instructions at all). And there wasn't a way to return to the instruction screen either. I believe improving the instructions would solve that issue.
There were others who found the game too simple. I myself am of the same opinion but the game is modular and can be easily expanded upon (in terms of design). The idea at first was that level 1 would have 4 herbs, so that people could get a feel of how the game loop works and then subsequent levels would have two additional herbs each, creating a smooth difficulty curve. This release is basically just level 2 of the game with two additional herbs (Jabberweed and Mash Maw) added to the selection. It is a crude build and its only purpose is to act as a proof of concept of the expanding complexity of the game.
Hope you enjoy the release. We do not think we will be working on this game any further. Truth be told, this build itself was made within 2 weeks of the closing of the jam but its only now that I've gotten the idea to upload it here as well.
